The 2025 Russia–United States Summit (also known as the Alaska Summit, or the Alaska 2025 or the Trump–Putin Summit) is a meeting between United States President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin.[1] It [started] on August 15, 2025, at Joint Base Elmendorf–Richardson in Anchorage, Alaska.[2]
It will be the first meeting between Trump and Putin since Trump was re-elected in 2024 and first since their last meeting in 2019 in Osaka. They will mostly talk about the ongoing Russia–Ukraine war, which Trump wants to end.[3][4] It will be the first time that the summit between Russia and the United States would be hosted in the United States since the Governors Island Summit in 1988 rather than in Russia or any third countries.
Response
Hours after the end of the summit, the foreign minister of Norway, said that "it is time to put more pressure on" the Russian president.[5]
The Ukrainian president and the U.S. president had a long[6] phone call; That happened hours after the end of the summit.
