The Adda is a river in northern Italy. It is a left tributary of the Po. The river is 313 km (194 mi) long.[2]
The river starts in the Alps near the border with Switzerland and flows south through a valley called Valtellina from Bormio to Tirano. It then turns west past che city of Sondrio and enters into the northern end of Lake Como.[2]
It leaves the Lake Como in Lecco and flows southbound through the northern part of the Po Valley, it forms the boundary between the provinces of Milan and Cremona before joining the Po not far from the city of Cremona.
The lower course of the rivers is navigable.[2]
Major cities on the Adda are: Bormio, Tirano, Sondrio, Lecco and Lodi. The main tributaries of the Adda are: Brembo, Serio and Mera.
