Alexander Mitta
Alexander Naumovich Mitta (28 March 1933 – 14 July 2025) was a Soviet and Russian movie director, screenwriter and actor.[1] He was born in Moscow. His career began in 1960 and he retired in 2016. He was known for directing Shine, Shine, My Star (1970), How Czar Peter the Great Married Off His Moor (1976) and Air Crew (1980). He played Vladik in the 1967 movie July Rain.
In 1980, Mitta was a member of the jury at the 30th Berlin International Film Festival.[2]
Mitta supported the annexation of Crimea by Russia in 2014.[3]
Mitta died on 14 July 2025 under hospice care in Moscow from a stroke caused by kidney cancer at the age of 92.[4]
