Arquivo.pt

Arquivo.pt is a web archive in Portugal. It saves copies of web pages and other online content so people can read websites that have changed or disappeared. This helps protect important information for the future. It is widely recognized for preserving Portugal’s web history and making past online content available to the public, and is used by researchers, journalists, and even on Wikipedia.[1][2][3][4]

It also saves news sites and media archives, including old pages from Macau and the Lusa agency.[5]

History

Arquivo.pt started in 2007. It is run by the Fundação para a Ciência e Tecnologia (FCT), Portugal’s main public science agency. The project was started by Daniel Coelho Gomes.[6]

Awards

Arquivo.pt received national recognition, including the Digital Transformation Award in 2024[7] and the Best Digital Service award in 2022.[8]
