History
The laboratory was built to study the atmosphere. The first buildings were put there in the 1950s.
The lab is in a special protected area. This is because the air there is very clean. This clean air is important for the scientific tools.
An Auroral Radar Station was established by New Zealand at Arrival Heights in 1959.[1]
Geography
Arrival Heights is a hill in Antarctica. It is on a place called Ross Island. The hill is near McMurdo Station and Scott Base.
The lab is in a place that has a good view of the sky. This is important for studying things in the atmosphere. The area around the lab has no vehicles or people walking around. This helps keep the air clean for the experiments.
