BBC Alba is a Scottish television channel owned by the BBC and MG Alba. The channel shows programmes made in Scottish Gaelic. It was launched on 19 September 2008. It operates for up to seven hours a day showing BBC Radio nan Gàidheal with unique shows.[1]

The name Alba is the name for Scotland in Scottish Gaelic.

BBC Alba is one of the only BBC licence stations that is delivered by a partnership. It was also the first channel to show multiple genres of shows to come from Scotland with most of the programmes made in Scotland.[2][3]

On 8 January 2024, the BBC ended the SDTV feed for BBC Alba on satellite services.[4]
