The BYD S8 is a Convertible Sports car produced by the Chinese automaker BYD Auto. It was initially introduced as a prototype, named the BYD F8, at the 2006 Shanghai Motor Show.[1] The production version was launched in 2009 and continued until 2010, with a total of 103 units produced.
Overview
The BYD S8 is a two-door convertible that features a front-engine, front-wheel-drive layout. The design of the car has a steel roof and incorporates styling elements reminiscent of other models: the rear design is similar to that of the Renault Mégane CC, while the front takes cues from the Mercedes-Benz CLK.[2]
The car is powered by a 2.0-liter, four-cylinder BYD483QB petrol engine, paired with either a 5-speed manual transmission or a CVT (continuously variable transmission).
Markets
The BYD S8 was primarily sold within the Chinese market during its production.
Discontinuation
The BYD S8 stopped being produced in 2010 without sucessor it had sales numbers of 96 units followed by only seven units in 2010 overall the car sold a total of 103 units throughout its brief market presence.[3]
