William Brent Hinds (January 16, 1974 – August 20, 2025) was an American heavy metal singer and musician. He was best known as the former lead guitarist of the heavy metal band Mastodon. He was also lead guitarist and singer for the surfabilly band Fiend Without a Face.
With Mastodon, Hinds composed the score to Jonah Hex.[1]
Mastodon announced in March 2025 that Hinds would leave the band.[2]
Hinds was killed in a motorcycle accident on August 20, 2025 in Atlanta, Georgia at the age of 51.[3]
