COVID-19 pandemic in Oklahoma
As of December 22, 2022, Oklahoma was impacted far more by the COVID-19 than the average other U.S. state. As of early 2025 Oklahoma had just over 16,000 deaths due to the condition. Greer County in the southwestern area of the state had reported 753 deaths per 100,000 people under COVID. Payne County on the other hand reported only 231 per 100,000 deaths.
The first case of COVID-19 in Oklahoma was on Saturday, March 7, 2020. Eleven days after, the first COVID-19 death struck the state on Wednesday, March 18.
In addition to the original version of COVID, the Omicron, Delta and other versions also affected Oklahoma from 2021 through 2023.
