Charles Kushner (born May 16, 1954) is an American real estate developer, politician and former lawyer who has been the United States Ambassador to France and Monaco since 2025.[1][2][3][4] He founded Kushner Companies in 1985. His son Jared Kushner is the husband of Ivanka Trump and son-in-law of Donald Trump.

Criminal charge

In 2005, he was found guilty of illegal campaign contributions, tax evasion, and witness tampering after hiring a prostitute to seduce his brother-in-law, recorded a sex tape between the two, and sending the tape to his sister. He was sentenced to two years in jail. He later received a pardon by his son's father-in-law, President Donald Trump, on December 23, 2020.[5][6]

U.S. Ambassadorship

In November 2024, President-elect Trump nominated Kushner to be the U.S. Ambassador to France and Monaco for his second term.[7] On February 12, 2025, his nomination was sent to the Senate.[8] His nomination was confirmed by the Senate by a vote of 51-45. Cory Booker was the lone Democratic senator to support his confirmation.[9]
