Charleville is a town in southwest Queensland, Australia. It is the main town in the Shire of Murweh and is located on the Warrego River. [1][2] Charleville is about 740 kilometres (460 miles) west of Brisbane.
History
Charleville was founded in the 1860s during the time when settlers moved west looking for land. The town grew because it was an important stop on the railway line and a centre for sheep grazing.
Geography
Charleville is in a dry, flat area known as the Channel Country. The Warrego River flows through the town, but it only has water after heavy rains.

Charleville has a hot semi-arid climate. Summers are very hot, and winters are mild to cool.
