Charlotte Frances Drury (born June 4, 1996) is an American trampoline gymnast. She is the first person with type 1 diabetes to be on an Olympic gymnastics team.[3]
Early life
Drury was born in Laguna Beach, California. She has three siblings. She graduated from University of California, Irvine in 2021.[4]
Career
Drury started artistic gymnastics when she was three years old. When she was five years old, she started training in Aliso Viejo, California. Drury switched to trampoline gymnastics after quitting her artistic gymnastics class.[5]
In August 2014, Drury represented the United States at the Pan American Games Championships in Toronto, Canada. She was 20th place.[6]
In 2016, Drury had to withdraw from a competition after breaking her foot.[7]
In 2021, Drury was second place at the US Nationals.[8] She was picked to be an alternate at the 2020 Summer Olympics.[9]
Personal life
Drury's hobbies are photography, writing, hiking, swimming,[10] and freediving.[3]
Two months before the 2020 Summer Olympics, Drury was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes.[3]
Since December 2020, Drury has been dating American gymnast Laurie Hernandez.[11]
