Emanuel Christopher Welch[1] (born February 6, 1971), known as Chris Welch, is an American lawyer and politician. He has been the 70th Speaker of the Illinois House of Representatives since 2021. He is a Democrat. He represents the 7th district in Cook County since 2013.
