Shante Scott Franklin (born April 4, 1981), better known by his stage name Currensy (stylized as Curren$y) is an American rapper, songwriter and record executive. Formerly signed to Lil Wayne's record label Young Money Entertainment, he signed himself to No Limit Records as a teenager. After releasing mixtapes, his first album This Ain't No Mixtape was released in April 2009.
After gaining stream in 2007, he made a shocking move leaving Young Money to do his own thing on an airplane. Currensy said, "I ain't see nothing coming out of there. I have been on Young Money for like 4 years. We had the "Where The Cash At" video game, you know, that was cool".
