Curtis LeMay

'Curtis Emerson LeMay' (November 15, 1906 – October 1, 1990) was an American general who served as Chief of Staff of the United States Air Force from 1961 to 1965. LeMay was the vice-presidential selection of the segregationist governor George Wallace in the 1968 United States presidential election. While he won much of the Deep South, he did not win the election or achieve his goal of causing an electoral college tie. LeMay was known as a hawk, which meant that he supported the United States intervening and being more active in the Cold War. He was a member of the Republican Party.
