David Mundo Apatang (born July 10, 1948)[1][2] is a Northern Mariana Islander politician who has been the 11th and current Governor of the Northern Mariana Islands since 2025. He became the mayor of Saipan on January 12, 2015, and served until January 8, 2023. He was the Lieutenant Governor of the Northern Mariana Islands from 2023 until 2025. He was a Republican member of the Northern Mariana Islands House of Representatives.[3]

Apatang was elected lieutenant governor of the Northern Mariana Islands in the 2022 election on an independent ticket alongside Arnold Palacios.[4]

Apatang became the 11th Governor of the Northern Mariana Islands after the death of Governor Arnold Palacios on July 23, 2025.[5]
