Jackson's death occurred at his home in Los Angeles, California.[2] It was later ruled a homicide because Jackson was highly intoxicated with propofol and benzodiazepines, which his personal doctor had given him.[2][3] The doctor, Conrad Murray, was tried and convicted of involuntary manslaughter.[4]
