Diary of a Wimpy Kid: Diper Överlöde is the 17th book in the Diary of a Wimpy Kid series by Jeff Kinney. It was released on October 25, 2022.^[1]

Greg Heffley wants to be famous. He tries to help his friend Rowley become famous, but it does not work. Then he helps his brother Rodrick, who plays in a heavy metal band called Löded Diper.^[2]

Rodrick hopes the band will win a music contest called Battle of the Bands. They try many things to become popular, like wearing costumes, taking photos, and making videos. They also try to win a van in a contest but fail.^[3]

The band records a song and tries to share it with people. They play the song in public and on the street using an old ice cream truck. They perform on a rooftop but get scared and run away.

Later, they play at a club and meet a famous guitarist. They also play at a bar mitzvah and other small shows. Rodrick wants the band to be better, but problems happen. One member leaves the band, and others join.^[4]

At the contest, the band tries to fake their performance but fails. Then a famous band called Metallichihuahua performs and wins. In the end, Rodrick’s band gets back together.^[5]
