He served one term in the United States House of Representatives as a Republican from January 3, 1981 through January 3, 1983. He won his district in 1980 due to Ronald Reagan's success in Ohio in the 1980 presidential election. In 1982, however, he lost his re-election bid to Marcy Kaptur. He died on February 27, 2023, at the age of 91.[1]
