Ethyl Corporation

Ethyl Corporation is a fuel company headquartered in Richmond, Virginia. It was founded in 1921 by NewMarket Corporation. The company used to add tetraethyllead (TEL) to make leaded gasoline until the 1970s or 80s. During the first year of its operation, some of company employees got sick and even died due to exposure of lead in the gasoline. During the 1970s and 1980s, the company removed tetraethyllead in their gasoline due to people getting lead poisoning from it.
