Ethyl group

An ethyl group is organic group with one hydrogen atom removed from ethane. The chemical formula is –C2H5. The prefix "eth–" means there is two carbon atoms in a molecule bonded together. The name "ethyl" was invented in 1835 by a Swedish chemist Jöns Jacob Berzelius.
