Galicia Más

Banco GGAL S.A., operating commercially as Galicia Más was an Argentine commercial and financial services bank that was formed following the final acquisition of HSBC Bank Argentina by Grupo Financiero Galicia. It was the seventh largest bank in Argentina, with 100 branches, 700,000 customers, and more than 3,000 employees.

On April 9, 2024, Grupo Financiero Galicia acquired the Argentine subsidiary of HSBC for 550 million dollars. On September 13, 2024, the Central Bank approved the sale of HSBC Bank Argentina to Grupo Financiero Galicia.^[1]

As a result of the acquisition by Galicia Financial Group, on December 6, 2024, at 7:00 p.m., HSBC Argentina disconnected from the global HSBC Group network and progressively switched to the Galicia Más, officially ceasing to exist in Argentina after 32 years of uninterrupted operations in the country. With this brand change, a chapter closes in the history of HSBC in Argentina, an entity that, over more than three decades, left a significant mark on the Argentine financial system.

The rebranding of HSBC to Galicia Más was completed on December 6, 2024, at midnight.

On June 5, 2025, through its social media channels, the bank announced that on June 23 of that year, Galicia Más would merge with Galicia as part of its final integration. Its employees and branches would become part of Banco Galicia. With this merger, the bank was expected to add over 700,000 clients, 3,000 employees, and 100 branches. Meanwhile, its insurance company, Galicia Más Seguros, would merge and become Galicia Seguros on June 20, 2025.

On June 19, 2025, through its social media channels, Galicia Más announced that starting Saturday, June 21, clients would be able to manage their accounts exclusively through Banco Galicia's app and online banking. At 6:00 p.m. on the same day, Galicia Más’s contact channels (phone and email inbox) were shut down, and both its app and online banking services became unavailable at 9:00 p.m.

Unofficially, the merger process was considered completed on Saturday, June 21, 2025, with the shutdown of its online banking platform and corporate website. By monday, June 23, savings accounts and all other Galicia Más client products were fully visible in Banco Galicia’s systems.
