Gary Bruce Bettman (born June 2, 1952) is the current commissioner of the National Hockey League (NHL). He has held this post since February 1, 1993.
Bettman is unpopular among many hockey fans, who are still angry over the lockout a few years ago. He has become even more unpopular for leading the league into another lockout in September 2012.[2][3][4]
In May 2014, Bettman was named "sports executive of the year" by the SportsBusiness Journal and SportsBusiness Daily.[5] In 2016, Bettman was inducted as a member of the International Jewish Sports Hall of Fame.[6]
