Gastroparesis
Gastroparesis (also called delayed gastric emptying) is paralysis of the stomach.[1] This paralysis may be full or partial.
When a person eats, the food enters the stomach, and the stomach's muscles push the food along into the small intestine. With gastroparesis, the stomach muscles don't work properly, so the food stays in the stomach and takes a long time to pass into the small intestine.[2] This can lead to symptoms like nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, and bloating.[2]
