Sir George Newlands Reid (4 June 1939 – 12 August 2025) was a Scottish politician and journalist. He was the Presiding Officer of the Scottish Parliament from 2003 to 2007. He was a member of the Scottish National Party (SNP). He was a Member of the Scottish Parliament (MSP) for the Mid Scotland and Fife region from 1999 to 2003 and then for the Ochil from 2003 to 2007.
Reid was the Member of Parliament (MP) for Clackmannan and Eastern Stirlingshire from 1974 until 1979.
In 2013, Reid was treated for bladder cancer.[1] He died on 12 August 2025 in Denny, Scotland from kidney cancer at the age of 86.[2][3][4]
