Gili Air
Gili Air is located in an archipelago of three small islands off the coast of Lombok, Indonesia. It is the closest of the Gili Islands to the mainland and has a population of about 1,800. Gili Air has excellent SCUBA diving sites and turtles can be seen by snorkelling along the coral reef off it's east coast. Other activities on the island include yoga sessions, cooking classes and watching movies at outdoor cinemas on the beach.
A range of amenities are available on Gili Air, including various accommodation options, shops, restaurants, beach bars, clinics and ATM's. As there are no cars on the island, people get around by walking, using bicycles, or riding small horse-drawn carriages known as cidomos.
Gili Air is popular with travellers seeking a balance between the party-focused atmosphere of Gili Trawangan and the quiet serenity of Gili Meno.
Getting to Gili Air
Most people travel to Gili Air from Bali by taking boats from the ports of Pandangbai, Sanur, or Amed. Travellers can also fly to Lombok International Airport, then take a taxi to the harbour at Bangsal where public boats depart several times a day to Gili Air.
