Gukesh Dommaraju (born 29 May 2006), also known as Gukesh D, is an Indian chess grandmaster who is the current World Chess Champion.[1] He is the youngest World Chess Champion and the youngest Candidates Tournament winner.[2] He was also the third-youngest grandmaster and the youngest to reach a rating of 2750. He has won one team and two individual gold medals at the 2024 45th Chess Olympiad. Gukesh is also a silver medalist at the Asian Games.[3] On December 12, 2024, he won against Chinese grandmaster Ding Liren in the World Chess Championship, officially becoming the youngest FIDE World Champion ever.
