Györgytarló

Györgytarló is a village in Sárospatak District of Borsod-Abaúj-Zemplén County. Its population in 2024 was 477.

Location

It lies on the right bank of the Tisza, 95 kilometres east of Miskolc by road. The surrounding settlements are 8 km away from Kenézlő, 18-18 km from Bodroghalom and Tiszakarád, 19 km from Tiszacsermely, and the nearest town is Sárospatak, also 19 km away.

History

Before 1954 the settlement was part of Sárospatak.

Population

In 2022, 92.5% of the population identified as Hungarian, 14.3% as Roma, and 0.2% as German (7.3% did not declare; due to dual identities, the total may exceed 100%). In terms of religion, 26.9% were Roman Catholic, 21.8% Reformed, 8.8% Greek Catholic, 1% other Christian, and 12.6% non-denominational (28.3% did not respond).[1]
