Hutchins Landing was an unincorporated forest ghost town in Adams County, Mississippi. The now virtually non-existent abandoned ghost town is located rather deep in the forests of Adams County and is located right next to both Saint Catherine's Creek and the Mississippi River. Hutchins Landing is approximately 0.5 miles east of the Saint Catherine Creek and the Mississippi River, approximately 3.7 miles west of the rural town of Sibley, and approximately 12 miles (19.3 kilometers) southwest of the city of Natchez.
The town of Hutchins Landing was established and founded in 1835, and named after John Odlin Hutchins, who had a large plantation in the area. Because the town was located right next to the Mississippi River, a port was later established for ships on the river at the outskirts of Hutchins Landing, and as the years went by, more people moved to the town and the population grew.
The last confirmed mention of the town of Hutchins Landing being a rural community with a population is from 1845. By 1880, it has been theorized that the town's population may have had drastically dropped, and that extremely few people might lived in the town, but this might be a unconfirmed mistake. After 1882, it is theorized that the town of Hutchins Landing may have became an virtually abandoned ghost town.
By the mid-20th century, only one family are known to have continued to live in the town all the way until 1984. As of May 2014, the town was completely abandoned and dilapidated and was covered entirely in the large forests of Adams County. Virtually nothing was left of Hutchins Landing, as all of the houses have collapsed and disappeared, and the ruins of the town was overgrown with trees and plants.
The town is now located within the St. Catherine Creek National Wildlife Refuge.
