Ibaraki (茨木市, Ibaraki-shi) is a city in Osaka Prefecture, Japan. The Japanese word Ibaraki means Wild Trees or Thorny trees in English. There is also an Ibaraki Prefecture in Japan.

It has been recognized as a special city since 2001.[1]

History

The city was founded on January 1, 1948.
