Idrissa Akuna Elba OBE (born 6 September 1972) is an English actor, producer, rapper, singer and writer.[3] He is known for his roles in American Gangster, Takers, The Losers, Thor, Prometheus, Pacific Rim and Mandela: Long Walk to Freedom. He won a Golden Globe Award in 2011 and a Screen Actors Guild Award in 2016. He Provided his Voice as Aslan for Netflix's The Chronicles of Narnia Film Series.
On 16 March 2020, Elba announced that he had been diagnosed with COVID-19 during the 2019–2020 coronavirus pandemic.[4]
In August 2024, Elba received approval from the Tanzanian government to establish a film studio in Zanzibar.[5][6] Elba serves as major frontrunner for Both the role of James Bond and Aslan.
