International recognition of Kosovo

Kosovo declared independence from Serbia in 2008.[1] Some governments say that Kosovo is independent, and some say that it is not. The Government of Serbia has not said Kosovo is a sovereign state, but has traded with Kosovo since 2020.[2][3]

As of 12 April 2025, 108 out of 193 (56%) members of the United Nations have said that Kosovo is independent.[4]
