Jaffa
Jaffa, also called Japho, Joppa or Joppe in English, is an ancient Levantine port city which is part of Tel Aviv-Yafo, Israel. It is located in its southern part. The city is on top of a naturally elevated space on the Mediterranean coastline.
The city is mentioned in many ancient Egyptian and Assyrian documents. Biblically, Jaffa is known as one of the boundaries of the tribe of Dan.[1][2]
Ancient Jaffa was built on a 40 metres (130 ft) high kurkar sandstone ridge.[3]
