James Charles Shooter (September 27, 1951 – June 30, 2025) was an American comics writer, editor, and publisher. He began his career writing for DC Comics. He was later editor-in-chief at Marvel Comics. He later created many comic companies such as Valiant, Defiant, and Broadway.

Shooter died of esophageal cancer on June 30, 2025 at the age of 73.[2]
