Johanna Maria Quandt (21 June 1926 – 3 August 2015) was a German billionaire and widow of Herbert Quandt. After the death of Herbert Quandt, she owned a large amount of car company BMW.[1]
Biography
In 1926, Johanna Quandt was born as Johanna Bruhn.[2]
In the 1950s, she worked at BMV in Herbert Quandt's office as an assistant.[1] In 1960, Bruhn married Quandt.[3]
In 1982, Herbert Quandt died and she became a large shareholder in BMW. She retired in 1997.[3]
Personal life
As of August 2014, the Quandt family is estimated to be worth $46.3 billion.[4] She died at the age of 89 in her home in Bad Homburg near Frankfurt.[5]
She was the 8th richest person in Germany, 82nd in the world and 11th richest woman according to Forbes.[6]
