Joséphine de Beauharnais (23 June 1763 – 29 May 1814) was the first wife of Napoléon Bonaparte. This made her the first Empress of the French. Alexandre de Beauharnais was her first husband. When the French people killed their rich nobles, they cut off his head. She married Napoleon later.
She did not have any children with Napoleon, so he divorced her in 1810. Then he married Marie Louise of Austria.
