Joseph Alliluyev
Iosif Grigorievich Alliluyev (Russian: Иосиф Григорьевич Аллилуев; 22 May 1945 – 1 November 2008) was a Soviet and Russian cardiologist and medical researcher. He was the son of Svetlana Alliluyeva, the only daughter of Joseph Stalin, and her first husband, Gregory Morozov, making him Stalin’s grandson. Alliluyev was seven years old at the time of Stalin’s death in March 1953.
Career
Alliluyev became a respected cardiologist in Moscow, where he worked at the Clinical Center of the I. M. Sechenov Moscow Medical Academy. He held the academic title of Doctor of Medical Sciences and authored over 150 scholarly publications on cardiology and internal medicine. In recognition of his contributions to medical science, he was awarded the honorary title of Distinguished Scientist of the RSFSR.
Personal Life
In 1967, Alliluyev was living in Moscow with his wife, Yelena, while undergoing medical training and serving in the military. He maintained a low public profile throughout his life. One of his rare public appearances occurred during a televised interview on Russian Channel One, where he spoke about his relationship with his mother and her defection to the United States.
Death
Iosif Alliluyev died suddenly on 1 November 2008, at the age of 63. According to reports, he passed away while at work. Details of his death were kept private at the request of his family.
