Kent men's cricket team
The Kent men's cricket team is based at Canterbury. It represents the traditional English county of Kent. Teams called Kent have been active since 1709. The modern Kent team is organised by Kent County Cricket Club, which had a complex history until 1870 when the merger of two clubs—one in Canterbury and one in Maidstone—finally united cricket in the county. Kent have first-class status, and have competed in the official County Championship since 1890. The team has won the trophy six times, most recently in 1978.[1] Their main home venue is the St Lawrence Ground in Canterbury. Many great players have represented Kent, including Robert Colchin, Fuller Pilch, Alfred Mynn, Colin Blythe, Frank Woolley, Tich Freeman, Les Ames, Godfrey Evans, Colin Cowdrey, Derek Underwood, and Alan Knott.[2]
