King George is a train station in Surrey, British Columbia. It is located at 9904 King George Boulevard. It is owned by TransLink and is used by the SkyTrain in the Metro Vancouver area for their Expo Line, serving as one of the terminus for the line.
The station was built and opened on March 28, 1994. $6 million was spent by the King George Development Corporation for the construction of the station.[1] It is named after King George Boulevard and also King George VI, after he visited the city in 1939.[2] It is an elevated station, featuring two tracks and side platforms. In 2024, it was ranked at #11 of the 54 busiest stations in use for the SkyTrain.[3]
On July 6, 2015, a parkade for bicycles was opened. It was the second bike parkade for the SkyTrain.[4] On April 27, 2024, TransLink closed the station for a short time while they upgraded the inside of it and replaced the tracks.[5] King George was reopened on June 9.[6]
The station serves as a connection for the R1 King George Blvd TransLink bus service which runs to Delta, Langley, Surrey and White Rock.[7]
Around the station is Central City Shopping Centre, Holland Park, King George Hub, the Surrey campus for Simon Fraser University, and the Surrey Memorial Hospital.
