Lake Louise, Alberta

Lake Louise is a hamlet in Banff National Park. It was named after Princess Louise, Duchess of Argyll. It is located in the Alberta Rockies on the Bow River, 3 km (1.9 mi) northeast of the lake that has the same name. The hamlet was used to settled in 1884 as an outpost for the Canadian Pacific Railway. Lake Louise is about 1,600 m (5,200 ft) above sea level, making it Canada's highest place. The nearby lake, surrounded by mountains, is one of the most famous mountain views in the world.
