Le Bon Marché

Le Bon Marché is one of the leading and most exclusive department stores in the world and is located in Paris on the left bank of the Seinerive gauche – between Montparnasse and Saint Germain. The department store was founded in 1852 by Aristide Boucicaut and was then just a small shop that expanded into a large department store with a wide range and is considered the first real department store in the world.[1]

The department store was purchased by the French luxury conglomerate LVMH in 1984 and in 1987 Bernard Arnault decided to convert it into a luxury department store[2]. A branch, La Grande Epicerie de Paris, has since 1988 developed into Paris' largest grocery store.[3]
