Library of Ashurbanipal
The Library of Ashurbanipal is a royal collection of over 30,000 pieces of text from the 7th century BCE.[1] Ashurbanipal is considered the last great king of the Sargonid dynasty of Assyria.[2] At the library, various texts in different languages could be found, including, for example, a cuneiform tablet of the Great Flood as told in the Epic of Gilgamesh.[3] The remains were uncovered at the archaeological site at Kouyunjik Mound in Mosul, Iraq; once known as Nineveh, the capital of Assyria.[1]
