Lorine Zineb Nora Talhaoui (born 16 October 1983), better known as Loreen, is a Swedish-Moroccan pop singer, music producer, actress and model. Loreen is known for being the second person and first woman to win the Eurovision Song Contest twice.[3]

Career

Loreen became known in Sweden in 2004 after participating in the Swedish version of Pop Idol, where she placed 4th. In 2011, Loreen competed for the first time in Melodifestivalen, with the song "My Heart is Refusing Me", but did not advance to the show's final.

She returned to Melodifestivalen in 2012, with the song "Euphoria", this time making it to the final round. She won the show, earning the prize of representing Sweden at the Eurovision Song Contest 2012 in Baku.[4] During her time in Baku, she spoke about the human rights issues in Azerbaijan, which gained publicity from the media. Loreen's song "Euphoria" won the competition, marking Sweden's 5th win overall.

Following her win, she released her first album, Heal. Her second album, Ride, was released in 2017. That same year, Loreen entered Melodifestivalen for a third time with the song "Statements", but did not win. In 2020, Loreen appeared in the Netflix film JJ+E, where she portrayed the main character's mother.

In 2023, Loreen returned to Melodifestivalen again, and won with the song "Tattoo". As a result, she competed again for Sweden in the Eurovision Song Contest 2023.[5] In the grand final, Loreen placed 1st in the jury vote and 2nd in the public vote, ultimately winning the competition and defeated Finland's Käärijä.[6] This made her the first woman and second person to win Eurovision twice. Since her second win, she has embarked on two European tours.

Personal life

Loreen was born in 1983 in Stockholm, Sweden to Moroccan parents. Loreen has Moroccan Berber ancestry.

Loreen was in a relationship with Idol 2004 winner Daniel Lindström from 2004 to 2006.[7][8] Lindström dedicated his first music album after winning Idol to Loreen.[7] In early 2017, Loreen came out as bisexual.[9] In March 2021, Loreen revealed that she had a boyfriend.[10]
