"Mad World" is a new wave song by British band Tears for Fears. It was first released in September 1982. It then appeared on the band's first studio album The Hurting (1983).[1] The song reached number 3 on the UK Singles Chart in November 1982.
"Mad World" was also famously covered by Michael Andrews and Gary Jules. This version was made for the soundtrack of the movie Donnie Darko (2001).
