Masculine gender

Masculine is a grammatical gender that is present in all languages that have this grammatical category. It usually applies to animate objects of the male gender, but it is also often used with inanimate objects and in some cases animates of the female gender.[1]

For example, Italian has the masculine nouns man (masculine animate), desco (inanimate), soprano (feminine animate).
