Methyl acetate
Methyl acetate is an organic compound with the chemical formula CH3COOCH3. It is the methyl ester of acetic acid.
Uses
Acetic anhydride, an important compound for the chemical industry, is made from methyl acetate and carbon monoxide. This reaction is similar to the production of acetic acid from methanol in the Monsanto process.[1]
