Mil Lenssens
Emiel (Mil) Lenssens (Mechelen, December 25, 1926 – September 9, 2005) is a Belgian television producer. He became best known for creating Tik Tak for toddlers on the then BRTN (Vlaamse Radio- en Televisieomroeporganisatie).
Mil Lenssens began his career as a graphic artist and created animated films, among other things.
From 1957 onwards, he created children's programs for the Belgian public broadcaster (BRT).
He was the first to combine cartoons and living characters (in the series Klein, klein Kleutertje with Aunt Terry).
His best-known program was Tik Tak, which was filmed for 10 years (from 1 November 1981 to 25 December 1991) and is still broadcast today. He said he got the idea for Tik Tak when he saw how captivated toddlers and preschoolers were by the lottery drawing. He discovered that recurring images with accompanying music were sufficient for the preschool program. He also created Carolientje en Kapite Snorrebaard (Little Carol and Captain Snorrebaard), De Kasteelgeesten (The Castle Ghosts), and Prikballon (Pricking Balloon).
In 1981, he was awarded the Television Critics' Prize.
In 1985, he was awarded the Kinderkast television prize (presented by the Cinekid Foundation and the Youth & Media Expertise Center of NIZW Youth).
In 1991, he won the Sabam Prize.
