The Minneapolis Police Department (MPD) is the police department in Minneapolis, Minnesota. It was formed in 1867, making it the second-oldest police department in Minnesota. The Saint Paul Police Department is the oldest, formed in 1854. The department has four precincts with over 800 officers and 300 other employees.[4][5] The department did get national attention from the murder of George Floyd.
