Moree is a large town in northern New South Wales, Australia, located on the Mehi River at the junction of the Newell Highway and Gwydir Highway. The nearest town to Moree is Narrabri, situated 100 kilometers to the south.[2] Moree has passenger trains to and from Sydney, as well as buses to and from Grafton.[3]
Moree is a major agricultural centre. It is an important part of the Australian cotton growing industry. Like many towns and cities in Australia, Moree shares its name with a much smaller community in Northern Ireland, Moree, County Tyrone. At the 2001 census, 9,247 people lived in Moree. Later in 2006, only 8,083 people lived there.[4]
