Motorola, whose corporate name is Motorola Mobility LLC, is an American telecommunications and consumer electronics company, a subsidiary of the Chinese technology conglomerate Lenovo. The company primarily manufactures smartphones and other mobile devices running the Android operating system.[4][5]
In 2011, Motorola Inc. was split into two independent franchises. Motorola Mobility was created as a spin-off of Motorola's former phone arm, while Motorola Solutions retained the equipment business, such as servers and telecommunications networks, after the original name was renamed. Therefore, the direct legal successor to Motorola Inc. is Motorola Solutions.
